Lebanon's burning...
Lebanon's fading away...
Lebanon, what he loved the most in his life...
He had left people, jobs, places he loved...
He had left them, felt a bit sad, yet was able to get over it...
Lebanon was the only thing he tried leaving, time and time again, and was never able to...
He always compared himself to a tree...
Having its roots deep in Lebanon's soil...
The moment he gets uprooted, he'll whither and die...
he lies on his bed, a hand behind his head, and another on his chest...
he was able to feel his own heartbeats...
He still had a beating heart...
He discovered that he still had a heart, and it was strongly beating for Lebanon...
He couldn't watch TV...
He didn't want to...
Pure torture...
How was he able to see his beloved being burnt and torn to pieces...
He just couldn't...
while thinking of Lebanon...
He couldn't help not think of her...
How he loved her...
How he saw no one but her in his dreams...
How he longed for her...
Longed to touch her...
Smell her...
Feel her...
Kiss her...
on a moonless night...
in Beirut...

Was it about her, or about Beirut...
He had no clue...
Why did he think about her now...
Lebanon's burning...
Beirut's occupied by Militias...
Beirut's burned...
Why did he think about her?

It's true that it was her resemblance to Beirut what made him love her...
She was calm...
yet knew how to get crazy...
She was chaotic...
yet knew how to get her ideas organized sometimes...
She had pride, excessive pride...
yet admitted she was wrong from time to time...
She liked silence...
yet partied like hell...
She was deep, so deep...
yet only showed others her shallow face...

How couldn't he not love her when she reminded him of Beirut?
She had asked him many times this simple question: Why do you love me?
and he only smiled...
he was never able to explain...
he was never able to...
he never knew why!
Now, after it was too late...
After she left, and after Beirut was burned to ashes...
After he lost them both...
He knew...

Beirut will rise from the ashes again...
Like she always did...
She'll stab every monster who raped her in the heart...
But things will never be the same for him...
he just couldn't sit and watch this happening...
One time after the other...

His decision was taken...
He sat on his bed...
looked at himself in the mirror...

and said:
It's about time I left...
Once and for all...
...

I don't know where to start, it felt like i was reading a page out of an actual novel! This to me is one of your best writings.. i guess it's true, how some of the worst situations can bring out the best in people. Stay strong, hope the best for you and for Lebanon.
